Get started

Three ways in: run Educates on your own machine, deploy a ready-made workshop from the Hub, or tell us what you are building.

Run Educates on your laptop

The educates CLI creates a local Kind cluster with Educates installed, then deploys workshops to it. You need Docker, on macOS or Linux, or inside WSL on Windows.

  1. Download the CLI

Get the educates binary for your system from Downloads, and put it on your PATH.

  2. Create a local cluster

One command creates the cluster, a local image registry and Educates. It takes a few minutes, depending on your network.

    educates create-cluster
  3. Deploy a workshop and open it

Deploy the Kubernetes fundamentals workshop, then open the training portal in your browser, already signed in.

    educates deploy-workshop -f https://github.com/educates/lab-k8s-fundamentals/releases/latest/download/workshop.yaml
    educates browse-workshops

Browse workshops on the Hub

The Educates Hub is a catalog of ready-made workshops, from Kubernetes fundamentals to the lookup service. Each one comes with the single command that deploys it to your own Educates.
